Job summary

Amazon Leo seeks a technical leader to head the Electrical Engineering team for the Satellite Avionics Bus. You will drive avionics hardware development, guide architecture decisions, and coordinate with antenna/RF, propulsion, software, and test teams.

The role emphasizes space-grade reliability, design verification, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust satellite hardware for orbit operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years designing and/or testing complex, multi-layer, high-speed PCBA designs.
• 7+ years in hardware development across full product life cycle in relevant fields.
• Experience with schematic and layout ECAD tools.
• Experience with PCB design and debugging, including microprocessors, FPGAs, power supplies, and sensors.
• Experience with complex board designs, including high-speed interconnects, avionics, vehicle control systems, and/or motor & actuator control electronics.

Responsibilities

• Lead avionics hardware development for the avionics bus.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to define subsystem requirements.
• Develop and deliver hardware subsystems for the avionics bus.
• Manage development processes: architecture reviews, requirement reviews, hardware design reviews, build release reviews, test results reviews, flight release reviews.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including antenna & RF engineering, propulsion, mechanical, software, test, integration, reliability, regulatory, manufacturing, program management.
• Hire, lead and guide the avionics electrical engineering team through architecture, trade studies, technology selection, component selection, circuit design and analysis, PCB layout.
• Contribute to electrical component and subsystem test plans for robust space-grade designs.
