Job summary

Jet Aviation in Cairns (AUS) is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Operator at our Cairns MRO facility. You will support the Senior Manager Facilities in keeping hangars, workshops, offices and operations safe, clean and well‑organised.

This full‑time role suits a practical, proactive individual with safety, quality and customer service focus. A current forklift license is preferred and the starting salary ranges AUD 68,000–85,000 plus super, bonus and time in lieu.

Qualifications

• Practical maintenance mindset and safety focus.
• Trade assistant course is desirable.
• Ability to work in a high‑pressure aviation environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead general maintenance across hangars, workshops, offices and facilities.
• Assist qualified tradespeople and external contractors.
• Perform basic handyman tasks, minor repairs, painting and general building maintenance.
• Support doors, gates, lighting, shelving and facility infrastructure.
• Help with facility improvements, relocations and MRO support activities.
• Do daily town and freight pickups and deliveries.
• Carry out tooling inspections and calibration checks.
• Assist with weekly FOD checks and housekeeping.
• Move and position ground support equipment; tag and label accordingly.
• Report unsafe equipment and update work orders.
