Job summary

Skytek Pty Ltd in Cairns, QLD is seeking a Trade Assistant to support Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and workshop teams. You will assist with maintenance activities, move parts, and help with ground handling while keeping hangars clean and safe.

Requirements include a forklift licence, a valid driver’s licence, and the ability to obtain ASIC; candidates must be able to pass drugs and alcohol testing in a safety‑critical environment.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Experience in a trade, workshop, maintenance or industrial environment.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety systems.
• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance environments is desirable.
• Current Forklift Licence and Driver’s Licence.
• Ability to obtain or hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
• Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist aircraft maintenance engineers with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
• Pick, transport and distribute aircraft parts, tooling and consumables.
• Support aircraft towing and ground handling activities.
• Maintain hangar, workshop and maintenance areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Assist with stores and inventory management.
• Carry out minor facility repairs and basic maintenance tasks.
• Assist with equipment inspections, servicing and maintenance documentation.
