Job summary

Decoda, part of Sime Industrial, is building an integrated sensor platform using LiDAR, cameras, GNSS and IMU to support autonomous decision-making for mine processes. The team focuses on real-time monitoring, secure device communication and reliable data interpretation to improve productivity.

You will join a small engineering team, drive infrastructure improvements, design features under Iterative-V governance, and collaborate with product managers and external stakeholders from concept

Qualifications

• A degree in engineering (software/mechatronics/electrical) or computer science.
• Eligibility to work in Australia.
• Demonstrated industry experience developing, deploying and maintaining software.
• Strong programming and scripting skills (C++, Python, Bash).
• Experience with ROS 2.
• Strong Linux skills across development, deployment, monitoring and maintenance.
• Solid understanding of algorithms and optimisation.
• Ability to understand sensor and computer hardware well enough to specify, integrate and interface with it (no hardware design required).

Responsibilities

• Drive continual, user-driven improvement and expansion of the platform’s infrastructure.
• Design and feature set under the Iterative-V governance model.
• Use engineering tools, resources, and processes effectively to develop, document, and validate solutions to project requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the engineering team, technical leads, product managers and external stakeholders to understand and realise Decoda’s immediate and long-term business goals.
• Manage your own task prioritisation and completion through effective time management and efficient research practices.
