Job summary

Michael Page Australia is partnering with a globally established metals trading organisation to appoint a commercially minded leader to own the Australian growth strategy across trading, supply chain and export activities. Reporting to international leadership, you will build supplier networks and drive performance.

This role offers significant autonomy, international exposure, and a clear pathway to general management, with opportunities to shape the Australian operation and wider growth

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in trading, supply chain or operations.
• Experience in commodities, metals, recycling, or export industries.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Australian operation and execute the local growth strategy.
• Develop and expand a national supplier network across key markets.
• Identify new commercial opportunities and revenue streams.
• Monitor market trends and industry developments to drive strategic decisions.
• Represent the business across the Australian market and at industry events.
• Oversee end-to-end supply chain activities from sourcing through to export.
• Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations and commercial agreements.
• Ensure inventory, transport and export schedules are aligned to customer requirements.
• Coordinate logistics providers, freight partners and operational stakeholders.
• Support pricing decisions through market analysis and commercial insight.
• Monitor commodity markets and pricing movements.
• Drive profitable trading outcomes through effective supplier engagement.
• Develop long-term partnerships with suppliers and customers.
• Provide market intelligence, forecasts and performance reporting to senior leadership.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, customers and industry partners.
• Collaborate with international colleagues to support trading activities and growth initiatives.
• Act as the key point of contact for the Australian business.
