Michael Page Australia is seeking a commercially driven leader to head the Australian operation within a globally established metals trading organisation. You will drive growth, manage supplier engagements, and oversee end-to-end supply chain activities from sourcing to export across key markets.

Ideal candidates will bring experience across trading, commodities or related sectors, with strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to build and lead teams autonomously in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior commercial, trading, supply chain or operational leadership role.
• Strong background in supplier management, business development and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience working within commodities, metals, recycling, industrial products or related sectors.
• Sound understanding of logistics, exports and international supply chains.
• Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and drive business growth.
• Strong commercial negotiation and relationship-building capabilities.
• Highly autonomous with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Australian operation and execute the local growth strategy.
• Develop and expand a national supplier network across key markets.
• Identify new commercial opportunities and revenue streams.
• Monitor market trends and industry developments to drive strategic decisions.
• Represent the business across the Australian market and at industry events.
• Oversee end-to-end supply chain activities from sourcing through to export.
• Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations and commercial agreements.
• Ensure inventory, transport and export schedules are aligned to customer requirements.
• Coordinate logistics providers, freight partners and operational stakeholders.
• Support pricing decisions through market analysis and commercial insight.
• Monitor commodity markets and pricing movements.
• Drive profitable trading outcomes through effective supplier engagement.
• Develop long-term partnerships with suppliers and customers.
• Provide market intelligence, forecasts and performance reporting to senior leadership.
