Job summary

SSI SCHAEFER's Somerton distribution centre seeks an Electrical Maintenance Technician – Automated Systems to maintain and fault-find automated equipment, conveyors, lifts and sortation systems. You will diagnose faults, perform planned maintenance, interpret electrical schematics, and work with motors, sensors, VSDs and PLC-controlled equipment.

The role requires a licensed electrician with industrial maintenance experience, a commitment to safety, and willingness to work rotating day and night

Qualifications

• Licensed electrician with industrial maintenance and fault-finding experience.
• Experience with automation, motors, sensors, PLCs and VSDs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical information.
• Strong safety and customer service focus.
• Open to rotating day/night shifts and seven-day roster.
• Post-trade Pneumatics and Hydraulics certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical and control faults and return automated equipment to operation.
• Complete planned maintenance, repairs and component replacements.
• Work across motors, sensors, VSDs, safety circuits, control panels and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls, engineering and international technical support teams on complex issues.
• Investigate recurring faults and contribute to reliability improvements.
• Follow isolation, lock-out/tag-out and permit-to-work requirements.
• Collaborate with the customer's operations team to maintain a safe, productive environment.
• Champion safety and compliance on site.
