Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to join the Starlink Optical Payloads team in Redmond, WA. You will automate production lines for optical payloads, design PLCs, implement vision systems, and create UI for complex machines.

The role requires designing, testing, and integrating control systems while ensuring safety compliance and high manufacturing efficiency. Strong problem-solving and fast learning are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM is required.
• 1+ years in automation and control design/commissioning in manufacturing.
• Experience with design and debugging of PLCs and automation systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, qualify and implement projects across machine design, robotics and manufacturing processes.
• Architect, write, and debug PLC code.
• Implement vision systems for robotic guidance, quality control and data collection.
• Design systems to track factory performance and improve efficiency with data.
• Create user interfaces for complex machines to ease use and troubleshooting.
• Create electrical, pneumatic and fluid schematics for control panels.
• Ensure factory safety by ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems.
