Job summary

Voyager Technologies, Inc. is hiring an Automation and Controls Technician to support PLC-based control systems, robotic work cells, electrical cabinets, and field instrumentation across solid rocket motor and energetic materials manufacturing operations.

The role reports to senior engineers and offers a path toward greater autonomy. Responsibilities include installation, wiring, troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintaining documentation while adhering to NFPA 70E and site safety rules.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or certificate in Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or related field preferred OR 1–3 years of hands‑on experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude with tools and test equipment (e.g., multimeter).
  • Familiarity with reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic; ability to follow instructions in a controlled environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in installation, wiring, and commissioning of PLC-based control systems across multiple hardware platforms and robotic systems.
  • Build, wire, and inspect electrical cabinets; run field wiring and conduit per NEC and UL508A, including in hazardous environments.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and control system malfunctions using test equipment; assist root cause analysis under supervision.
  • Help with plant networking tasks connecting sensors, valves, PLCs, and control room systems using analog and Ethernet protocols.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on automation components and participate in commissioning and startup activities.
