Job summary

MRAEL, in partnership with Whitehaven Coal, invites applicants for an Automotive Electrical Apprenticeship at Daunia Mine, Moranbah, commencing January 2027. You will gain hands-on experience while training toward the Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (AUR30320) and work under expert guidance.

This four-year fixed-term role operates on a 5-on-2-off roster (day shift), with later shifts cycling to 7/7 day or day/night.

  • Desirable: Certificate II in Engineering (Pre-Vocational course)

Job description

Who are we seeking?

MRAEL in partnership with Whitehaven Coal, is offering an incredible opportunity to launch your trade career in the mining industry. We are accepting applications for an Automotive Electrical Apprenticeship at Daunia Mine, commencing January 2027. Gain practical, hands-on experience with an industry leader.


Successful candidates will follow a structured and industry-specific training plan, learning on the job from experts in their field, all whilst working towards Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (AUR30320).


In this a 4-year fixed-term position, the successful candidate will show an ability to work safely in a mining environment, demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, be motivated to learn and develop new skills, and have the ability to work constructively within a team.


The positions will be offered on 5-on-2-off roster arrangement (day shift only). The 5/2 roster will transition to an even-time rotation over the four-year period. By the final years, this will consist of at least a 7/7 day-only or 7/7 day/night rotation.


Local residents are encouraged to apply, however Drive-in Drive-out (DIDO) applicants must be living locally, within the Isaac Region.


Applications close strictly on Friday, 7th August. Interviews will be taking place for successful applicants in September 2026.
