Apprentice High Voltage Electrician | Dawson

Dawson Mine is seeking motivated and safety-focused individuals to join our team as Apprentice High Voltage Electrician. This is an exciting opportunity for Moura and Banana Shire residents to earn while you learn, gaining hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing some of the largest and most advanced mining equipment in Australia.

Job Description

During this 4-year apprenticeship, you’ll be working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will complete a nationally recognised qualification while developing the skills needed for a rewarding career in the mining industry.

As a Apprentice High Voltage Electrician, you will

• Assist with the maintenance and repair of high voltage electrical equipment and systems.
• Support fault finding and troubleshooting activities.
• Participate in planned and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Learn and apply safe work practices and procedures.
• Complete all apprenticeship training requirements and assessments.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Qualifications

• Sound achievement in Mathematics and English
• Genuine interest in pursuing a career as an Electrical Tradesperson specialising in High Voltage systems
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Good communication and problem‑solving skills
• Current Australian driver's licence (or ability to obtain during the apprenticeship)

Desirable

• Certificate II in Electrotechnology (UEE22020) or equivalent pre‑apprenticeship qualification
• Previous exposure to electrical, mining, industrial, or construction environments
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Working at Heights or Confined Space training
• Demonstrated mechanical or technical aptitude through employment, study, hobbies, or extracurricular activities
