Dawson Mine, operated by Anglo American, is offering a four-year Apprenticeship for Auto Electricians in Moura. Earn while you learn as you work alongside experienced tradespeople maintaining some of the region’s largest mining equipment.

The program blends TAFE study with hands‑on training, mentoring from qualified tradespeople, and pathways to a Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship. Applicants should be safety‑minded, reliable, and hold a current driver’s licence, with Year 12 completed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment.
• Learn fault-finding and diagnostic techniques.
• Support planned maintenance, inspections and breakdown repairs.
• Develop skills on engines, hydraulics, powertrains, braking systems and mobile equipment.
• Follow safe work practices and contribute to safety culture.
• Work within a maintenance team and complete apprenticeship requirements.

Dawson Mine is seeking motivated and safety-focused individuals to join our team as Apprentice Auto Electricians. This is an exciting opportunity for Moura and Banana Shire residents to earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience maintaining and repairing some of the largest and most advanced mining equipment in Australia.

Job Description

During this 4-year apprenticeship, you’ll be working alongside experienced tradespeople, you'll develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career maintaining some of the most advanced heavy mining equipment in Australia.

• Assist with the maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment
• Learn fault-finding and diagnostic techniques
• Support planned maintenance, inspections and breakdown repairs
• Develop skills working on engines, hydraulics, powertrains, braking systems and mobile equipment
• Follow safe work practices and contribute to a positive safety culture
• Work collaboratively within a high-performing maintenance team
• Complete all apprenticeship training and study requirements

Qualifications

• Have a genuine interest in mechanical equipment and how things work
• Are reliable, motivated and eager to learn
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safetyHave good communication and problem-solving skills
• Enjoy working as part of a team
• Hold a current Driver's Licence or are working towards obtaining one
• Finishing Year 12 this year and looking for your next career opportunity
