Side By Side Disability Services is seeking a calm, patient and experienced Disability Support Worker to support a 22-year-old non-verbal autistic man at home and in the community. The role involves assisting with routines, communication through visual supports, and following behaviour support plans to keep the client safe and engaged.

You will work within a 2:1 support model initially, maintain progress notes, and ensure a respectful, supportive environment.

Formación

• Experience supporting autistic people and individuals with complex communication needs.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with morning routines, personal care and community access.
• Use simple language, visual supports and structured routines to support communication and transitions.
• Follow established behaviour support strategies, recognise triggers and allow processing time.
• Respond calmly and safely when he is anxious or overwhelmed, including to behaviours such as wrist-grabbing.
• Work within a 2:1 support model initially.
• Maintain accurate progress notes and a safe, respectful environment.
