Salary ranges between $78,000 and $88,000 plus superannuation. The restaurant operates seven days a week in Mornington, providing opportunities to showcase expertise in tandoori, curries and regional specialties.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum two years' experience as a Cook in a busy kitchen.
• Knowledge of Indian spices, cooking methods and tandoor techniques is preferred.
• Sound understanding of food safety and workplace health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes according to recipes.
• Prepare ingredients, marinate and measure food items for cooking.
• Use tandoor, grill, roast, fry, steam, and bake to ensure consistent taste and presentation.
• Maintain quality and presentation according to standards and customer expectations.
• Monitor times, temperatures, and portion sizes to minimise waste.
• Check freshness of meat, seafood, vegetables and report quality concerns.
• Follow FIFO stock management and assist with stock replenishment.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation per standards.
• Collaborate with chefs and front-of-house staff for smooth operations.
• Assist with daily specials and seasonal menu items.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance issues.
