Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes according to recipes.
  • Prepare ingredients, marinate and measure food items for cooking.
  • Use tandoor, grill, roast, fry, steam, and bake to ensure consistent taste and presentation.
  • Maintain quality and presentation according to standards and customer expectations.

  • Follow FIFO stock management and assist with stock replenishment.

  • Collaborate with chefs and front-of-house staff for smooth operations.
  • Assist with daily specials and seasonal menu items.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance issues.

We are renowned for serving authentic North and South Indian cuisine prepared using traditional recipes, premium-quality ingredients, aromatic spices, and modern cooking techniques. Our extensive menu features a variety of curries, tandoori specialties, biryanis, vegetarian dishes, breads, and regional delicacies, catering to both dine-in and takeaway customers. Operating seven days a week, we are committed to delivering exceptional food quality, consistency, and customer service.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join our busy kitchen and contribute to maintaining the high standards our customers have come to expect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, season and cook a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, appetisers, breads, rice dishes, vegetarian meals, desserts and regional specialties in accordance with established recipes.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, marinating and measuring food items prior to cooking.
  • Cook food using a variety of techniques including tandoor cooking, grilling, roasting, frying, steaming, simmering and baking while ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented in accordance with the restaurant's quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Monitor cooking times, temperatures and portion sizes to maintain consistency and minimise food wastage.
  • Check the quality and freshness of meat, seafood, vegetables, spices and other ingredients before use and report any quality concerns.
  • Store food safely in accordance with food safety regulations and maintain appropriate stock rotation using FIFO principles.
  • Assist in estimating daily food requirements and notify management when stock replenishment is required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, food preparation areas and storage facilities in compliance with Food Safety Standards Australia

New Zealand (FSANZ) and workplace health and safety requirements.

  • Follow safe food handling practices and ensure compliance with hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Work efficiently during busy service periods to ensure timely preparation and service of meals.
  • Assist in preparing meals for customers with dietary requirements or food allergies while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with chefs, cooks and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and excellent customer service.
  • Assist with the preparation of daily specials and seasonal menu items under the direction of senior kitchen staff.
  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues promptly.
To be Successful in this Role, You Will Have
  • Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Minimum two years' experience as a Cook in a busy commercial kitchen, preferably specialising in authentic Indian cuisine.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indian spices, herbs, marinades, traditional cooking methods and tandoor cooking techniques.
  • Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to prepare high‑quality meals efficiently in a fast‑paced restaurant environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks during busy service periods.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required.
