Job summary

African Underground Mining Services is seeking Experienced Underground Auto Electricians for their Africa Operations on a 6 week on, 3 weeks off roster. The role emphasizes coaching local workers, sharing expertise, and maintaining high safety standards in a diverse cultural environment.

You will service and repair mobile equipment, train juniors, and work with Sandvik/RCT systems. A pre-employment medical, drug screen, and site clearances are required; international travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• A demonstrated passion for safety and proactive attitude toward safety in all operations.
• Knowledge of Sandvik UG development/production drills and LHDs.
• Proven knowledge and experience with remote control systems (RCT or Sandvik).
• Experience training less qualified tradespeople in a high-productivity underground mining environment.
• Strong background with latest generation underground mobile equipment and automation systems.
• At least 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in surface and/or underground mining on large mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing to mobile equipment in a safe manner and per procedures.
• Minimise downtime on machinery through skilled fault diagnosis.
• Record and report maintenance activities accurately.
• Maintain workshop and working area housekeeping and manage parts stock levels.
• Read and interpret service and spare parts manuals.
• Report equipment faults to Maintenance Foreman for scheduling into the workshop.

Job description

We are actively seekingExperienced Underground Auto Electriciansto join us in our African Operations on a 6 week on, 3 weeks off roster.

The emphasis of the role is ensuring that the local workers are developing their skills and knowledge by way of sharing your experience and being a role model. You will require boundless energy, resilience, determination, and a genuine interest in working with people from different cultures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carry out scheduled servicing to mobile equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with procedures, regulations, and the service sheet.
• Utilise skill and experience to create minimum downtime on machinery.
• Ensure correct recording and reporting of maintenance is achieved.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping in workshop and working areas at all times, ensure all parts are kept at minimum stock levels.
• Read and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals.
• Report all equipment faults to the Maintenance Foreman for scheduling into the workshop weekly Minimum Requirements:
• A demonstrated passion for safety and a proactive attitude toward ensuring that safety is front of mind for all employees at all times.
• A sound knowledge on Sandvik U/G Development/Production Drills and LHD's.
• Experience on Caterpillar Underground Loaders
• Proven knowledge and experience on remote control systems either RCT or Sandvik.
• Experienced in training less qualified tradespeople to a high standard in a high productivity underground contracting mining environment.
• Strong background working with latest generation underground mobile equipment and associated automation systems.
• At least 5 years post apprenticeship experience working within surface and/or underground mining industry on large mobile equipment.
• Self-starter who will work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
• International Driver’s License.
