Job summary

African Underground Mining Services is seeking an experienced Longhole Driller to join our operations. The role involves drilling longholes to design patterns with mechanised equipment, following safety and statutory regulations, and coordinating with surveyors, geologists, and engineers.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years in underground mining and specific experience with DL431 and DL421 drill rigs. A 6 weeks on/3 weeks off roster is on offer and pre-employment checks will apply.

We are actively seeking anExperienced Longhole Driller to join us in our African Operations.The roster on offer is 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Make sure that the relevant Safety, Mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations are followed.


• Accurately drilling a series of Longhole to a design pattern using a mechanised drill.


• Reads and accurately follows mine instruction plans with skill and precision ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient, and profile.


• Communicate with surveyors, geologists, and engineers to optimise drill patters and metres.


• Set up and troubleshoot on Longhole Drill rigs.


• Accesses face conditions at the start of the job and scale from height according to site requirements.

Essential Requirements:

• A demonstrated passion for safety and a proactive attitude toward ensuring that safety is front of mind for all employees at all times.


• Experience in training a national workforce.


• A minimum of five years’ experience in the Underground Mining Industry.


• A minimum of 5 years’ experience solely as an Underground Longhole Driller.


• Knowledge of Underground Mining Practices and the efficient operation of an Underground Longhole Machine.


• Highly organised and able to work efficiently with limited supervision.


• Strong experience operating DL431 and DL421 drill rigs essential.
