Job summary

SLR Consulting in Perth, Australia, is seeking an Associate Tailings Engineer with 8+ years of geotechnical experience to join our tailings and mine waste portfolio. The role combines technical design, site investigations, project management and client engagement on challenging tailings projects.

You will lead project delivery, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams while aligning with GISTM/ANCOLD guidelines. Travel to mine sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified civil/geotechnical/geological engineer with 8+ years' experience.
• Strong experience in tailings, mine waste or dams and mining infrastructure.
• Experience leading projects and liaising with clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage geotechnical and tailings projects across studies, design, construction, operations and closure.
• Undertake and review stability, seepage, deformation and seismic assessments.
• Support Tailings Storage Facility design and governance activities.
• Interpret site data to derive geotechnical parameters and support QA/QC.
• Lead reporting, client engagement and junior engineer mentoring.
