Job summary

SLR Consulting in Perth seeks a Principal Geotechnical/Tailings engineer with 15+ years of experience to lead complex tailings and mine waste projects. You will provide technical leadership, engage with clients and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across the project lifecycle.

This senior role requires strong knowledge of stability, seepage, liquefaction and dam safety, with familiarity with GISTM and ANCOLD; travel to site as required and mentoring junior engineers are expected.

Qualifications

15+ years of relevant professional experience in tailings, mine waste, dams and geotechnical engineering.
Extensive Tailings Storage Facility design, assessment, construction and operational support.
Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, tailings behaviour and geotechnical engineering.
Experience with slope stability, seepage, liquefaction, seismic assessment, numerical modeling, instrumentation, and dam safety.
Familiar with GISTM, ANCOLD and international practice; experience with EoR is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership across tailings, mine waste and geotechnical projects.
Lead and review design and assessment of Tailings Storage Facilities, mine waste facilities, embankments and associated infrastructure.
Provide senior input on stability, seepage, deformation, foundation, liquefaction and seismic assessments.
Lead projects from concept through design, construction, operations and closure.
Mentor engineers and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Support clients with tailings governance, dam safety, risk management, surveillance and TARPs.
Contribute to business development, proposals and strategic pursuits.
Ensure alignment with GISTM, ANCOLD and standards.
Build and maintain client relationships.
