Job summary

CQUniversity seeks an Academic Level D nursing leader to drive teaching, learning and research excellence. Positions are available in Cairns, Mackay, Townsville or Rockhampton with relocation support negotiable.

The appointee will hold a PhD, be registered as an RN (Division 1) with AHPRA, and lead curriculum development, supervision of postgraduates and industry partnerships. Remuneration ranges from AUD 196,588 to 214,609 per year, with 17% superannuation.

  • Doctoral qualification (PhD or equivalent) in nursing or related field.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA.
  • Proven excellence in teaching, supervision and curriculum development across undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education.
  • Established research profile with publications and success in securing competitive research funding.
  • Proven leadership in research, teaching or governance with mentoring colleagues.
  • Strong industry and community engagement; ability to develop partnerships.

  • Academic Level D: Total Remuneration $196,588 to $214,609 pa (including salary of $166,120 to $181,348 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)

Position Requirements


  • Doctoral qualification (PhD or equivalent) plus significant experience in nursing.

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA.

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, supervision and curriculum development across undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education.

  • Established research profile, including publication in high-quality journals and success in securing competitive research funding.

  • Proven leadership capability in research, teaching and/or academic governance, with a commitment to mentoring colleagues and fostering a positive team culture.

  • Strong industry and community engagement, with the ability to develop and maintain effective professional partnerships and networks.

  • Internationally recognised contributions to the discipline and a demonstrated commitment to advancing the nursing profession.
