Job summary

SBS is seeking an Associate Producer for Insight, an onsite role at our Artarmon office in North Sydney. Use strong storytelling and current affairs knowledge to produce innovative television content for Insight.

You will work with the team to develop, script and structure episodes, coordinate guests, and support digital content development while meeting tight deadlines.

This role is classified as Level 2 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement with a base salary range commencing at $70,286 +. This role is also entitled to additional overtime allowances. The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The Department

Insight is Australia's leading discussion show for ideas and powerful first-person stories, offering a unique perspective on news and current affairs. Kumi Taguchi hosts and drives discussions that examine a single topic. Insight brings together, in one place people with personal experience on an issue, as well as experts and those with strong opinions.

Over more than 25 years, Insight has come to be known for challenging expectations by exploring topics that no one else does. It’s all underpinned by exhaustive research and a commitment to fair and balanced reporting.

With that in mind, we are looking for an Associate Producer to join the Insight team in a full-time, ongoing capacity. You will use your strong story-telling skills and a broad knowledge of current issues, national and international affairs to produce imaginative and compelling television.

This role is an onsite role, working at our Artarmon office located in North Sydney.

Key responsibilities include:

• Contact, schedule, and pre-interview guests for studio forums.
• Collaborate with the producer to prepare briefs and structure episodes.
• Suggest, research, develop and produce content packages for inclusion in the studio program, managing location shoot from scripting through to filming and editing with guidance from Producers and Supervising Producers.
• Assist the presenter with editorial and production matters alongside the producer.
• Support and work with online producers to develop and promote digital content.

About you

You’ll be ready for your next big challenge and come equipped with:

1+ years' journalism experience,including field producing video packages

• Enthusiasm to research and interview across a broad range of topics.
• Fantastic written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional organisational skills and ability to work under pressure, across multiple projects.
• This is a deadline-driven role. You will be required to deliver to deadline.
• The nature of the work suits self-starters who can effectively manage their own time.
• Ability to generate fresh and imaginative ideas for program forums and a natural curiosity about everything is a plus.
• An understanding of the importance of digital audiences and ideas on how to drive content online.
