Job summary

SBS is seeking a casual Operations Administrator based at our Artarmon offices in Sydney to support the day-to-day Newsroom operations. You will provide essential administrative and operational support to the News teams, helping keep the newsroom running smoothly in a fast-paced environment and ensuring timely delivery of content.

Job Description

This is a casual opportunity based at SBS's Artarmon offices in Sydney.

This role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations our Newsroom.

Reporting into the Senior Production Managers within the World News Admin team, you will:

  • Play a key role in keeping the Newsroom running smoothly by providing operational and administrative support to News teams.
  • Coordinate staff scheduling, travel arrangements and communications to support a fast-paced news environment.
  • Manage contracts, invoices, expenses and other business administration activities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support onboarding, training and record-keeping for employees and contractors, helping our newsroom team be set up for success from the start
  • Contribute to newsroom culture and team engagement through event coordination and day-to-day support for staff and managers.,

About the Candidate

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Strong production administration experience, ideally with an understanding of broadcast or news & current affairs operations.
  • Familiarity with rostering platforms and a working knowledge of rostering principals & compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract management.
  • Confidence in liaising with a high number of internal & external stakeholders, at times under broadcast critical conditions.
  • A strong, engaging communicator, a resourceful critical thinker capable of responding in a deadline-driven environment.
Work Environment

This role is classified as Level 2 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement with a hourly rate of $43.97 -$ 57.43 (including 24% casual loading). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.
