Job summary

Taylor Thomson Whitting is seeking an Associate Director Flood in Sydney to lead a professional flood engineering team and drive successful project delivery within budget and schedule. You will develop staff, oversee client relations, and contribute to business development and sales opportunities.

You will apply advanced engineering and flood analysis software while ensuring compliance with Authority requirements and TTW standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum ten (10) years' experience in flood engineering in a consulting environment.
• Ability to provide preliminary high-level advice for major projects based on experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
• Excellent understanding of Authority requirements and relevant Australian Standards.
• Demonstrated project management skills to deliver on time, on budget and to client requirements.
• Problem solving/analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as Team and Project Leader reporting directly to the Flood Manager or Director.
• Manage technical and contractual aspects of projects to meet requirements and comply with legal and Authority obligations.
• Apply advanced engineering principles to devise practical and economical solutions.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and build a client database.
• Influence, negotiate and manage professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Lead production of analysis, reporting, specifications, fee proposals, and documentation.
• Oversee profitability, pricing, tender submissions, scheduling and resourcing across multiple complex projects.
• Establish flood-related policies, standards and procedures; mentor junior staff.

We are seeking a passionate Associate Director Flood, to contribute to the general management of projects and staff and assist in the implementation of the Strategic Plan of TTW.

The role is required to effectively lead a team of professional flood engineering staff and ensure the delivery of projects within budget, timeframes and TTW standards of excellence.

The Associate Director manages and oversees the development of staff and staffing projections for ongoing and future projects within their team, while maintaining a positive relationship with current clients, and works to develop sales and marketing opportunities for the future work pipeline.

In this role, you will you will accountable for the following:

• Act as Team and Project Leader reporting directly to the Flood Manager or Director
• Manage the technical and contractual aspects of projects to ensure technical requirements are met and performed in compliance with legal and Authority obligations, TTW policies and procedures, and client defined scope of work
• Apply advanced engineering principles to devise and deliver practical and economical solutions to problems
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, as well as establishing your own client database
• Influence, negotiate and manage effective professional relationships with clients, authorities and external stakeholders
• Maintain industry awareness including changes in legislation and client expectations
• Manage and lead the production of analysis, reporting, specifications, fee proposals and other documentation to meet client and Authority requirements for projects of various levels of complexity
• Assume responsibility for management and profitability of multiple complex large scale projects including pricing, tender submissions, technical documentation, project scheduling and monitoring progress, resourcing, meeting deadlines and budgets
• Assist in the establishment of, and monitor adherence to, flood related policies, standards and procedures
• Assist in management of work from financial, technical and contractual aspects, through cooperation and consultation with other members of Senior Management
• Lead and effectually manage staff by modelling and driving a positive, one TTW culture
• Guide colleagues on best practice and share technical expertise within TTW
• Apply a deep understanding of all engineering principles and mentor junior staff
• Conduct staff performance reviews and performance management where required
• Responsible for the development, management and training of staff including recruitment, selection and remuneration
