Job summary

Mainline Services Group Pty Ltd is seeking an Assistant Village Manager to support the day-to-day operation of a remote mining village in Australia. The role requires hands-on involvement in catering, housekeeping, accommodation services and staff coordination on a FIFO or site roster.

You will assist the Village Manager, supervise staff, manage stock, ensure food safety and workplace safety, and communicate with clients to maintain service quality and compliance.

Mainline Services Group Pty Ltd is seeking a reliable and experienced Assistant Village Manager to support the day-to-day operation of a remote mining village.

This role is suitable for someone with strong experience in remote camp operations, hospitality, housekeeping, catering support, accommodation services, staff supervision, client communication and site compliance.

The successful candidate will assist the Village Manager and may act as Relief Village Manager when required.

About the Role

The Assistant / Relief Village Manager will support the smooth operation of village services, including catering, housekeeping, cleaning, accommodation support, staff coordination, stock control, client communication and daily reporting.

This is a hands-on role in a remote mine site environment. The successful candidate must be flexible, reliable, safety-focused and willing to assist across different areas of the operation when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Village Manager with daily village operations.

• Support catering, housekeeping, cleaning and accommodation service delivery.

• Supervise and support site staff during rostered shifts.

• Assist with staff coordination, daily task allocation and shift handovers.

• Monitor service standards across kitchen, dining, rooms, amenities and common areas.

• Assist with stock control, ordering, deliveries and inventory checks.

• Support food safety, hygiene, HACCP and workplace health and safety requirements.

• Assist with client communication and respond to site requests professionally.

• Prepare or assist with daily and weekly operational reports.

• Assist with incident, hazard, maintenance and defect reporting.

• Support onboarding, induction and training of new staff.

• Act as Relief Village Manager when the Village Manager is absent or on leave.

• Ensure company policies, site rules and client requirements are followed.

• Perform other reasonable duties as required by the company.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant should have:

• Experience in remote camp, mining village, hospitality, accommodation, housekeeping or catering operations.

• Previous supervisory or team leader experience.

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced remote site environment.

• Good computer and reporting skills.

• Understanding of food safety, cleaning standards, safety procedures and site compliance.

• Ability to lead by example and support a positive team culture.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to service quality.

• Flexibility to assist across different departments when needed.

• Ability to work independently and make practical decisions when required.

Requirements

• Previous mine site or remote village experience.

• Food Safety Supervisor certificate or food safety knowledge.

• First Aid certificate.

• Manual driver licence.

• Forklift License Desirable

• S123 Certification

• RMVL

• Food Safety Supervisor Certification (FSS QLD)

• National Police clearance within the last 6 months

• Experience with stock control, ordering, accommodation systems or site reporting.

• Understanding of HACCP, SWIs, SOPs and WHS requirements.

Roster and Location

This role is based at a remote mining village. The successful applicant will be required to work a FIFO or site-based roster as agreed with the company.

Accommodation and meals will be provided while on site.
