Job summary

The Melbourne Hotel in Bundaberg Central is reopening mid-November. We are seeking three energetic, hands-on Assistant Managers to lead the floor across the bistro, sports bar, gaming and event spaces in a collaborative multi-AM team.

This hands-on role involves lifting and moving goods; you’ll support the Publican to run the venue smoothly, train across areas, and bring the energy, service and smiles every shift.

Qualifications

• Hands-on hospitality role requiring physical tasks.
• Experience supervising in Gaming, Bistro/F&B, or Functions is a bonus.

Assistant Managers | Melbourne Hotel - Grand Reopening Mid-November!

The pub is the heart of the community, and the people of Bundaberg Central call the Melbourne Hotel their local, a place for friends to meet, families to relax, and everyone to enjoy themselves. Following an extensive post-flood rebuild, we are getting ready to welcome the town back mid-November, and we are looking for three energetic, hands‑on Assistant Managers to lead the floor and rebuild our bustling local trade!

We operate a collaborative, multi-AM model where our management team works together on the floor to share shift load, run peak trade, and support one another across all areas of the venue. You’ll manage venue shifts spanning the bistro, sports bar, gaming, and event spaces. Prior supervisory experience in Gaming, Bistro/F&B, or Functions is a great bonus, but complete experience across all three isn’t required, we are more than happy to train you up on any areas you haven’t mastered yet!

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

This is a hands‑on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements
