Job summary

Challenger Security is seeking an experienced Assistant Security Operations Manager to support our high-end retail portfolio across NSW and the ACT. You will work closely with the Senior Operations Manager – National Retail Portfolio to oversee day-to-day operations, workforce planning, training, compliance and service delivery across multiple client sites.

Regular site visits, client relationship building and travel between sites are required.

Qualifications

  • At least three years’ experience in security operations, including supervisory or management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading security teams within retail, commercial or corporate environments.
  • Strong knowledge of security operations, risk management, incident response and compliance.
  • Experience developing operational plans, procedures and related documentation.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to engage, support and motivate security teams.
  • Excellent organisational, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence working with clients, employees and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • The flexibility to travel regularly between sites and provide operational support when required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of the high-end retail security portfolio.
  • Conduct regular site visits to maintain operational standards and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee rostering and workforce allocation across NSW and the ACT.
  • Support the National Operations Manager with operational priorities and portfolio requirements.
  • Coordinate and deliver security plans for events and special operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, employees and key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate employee training and ensure all licensing and compliance requirements remain current.
  • Ensure security procedures, operational plans and site requirements are consistently followed.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies and escalations promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with identifying operational risks and implementing strategies to strengthen service delivery.
  • Prepare incident, operational and performance reports.
  • Provide hands‑on operational support, including relief security coverage, when required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, security licensing requirements and workplace health and safety obligations.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Security Operations Manager to support our high-end retail security portfolio across NSW and the ACT.

Working closely with the Senior Operations Manager – National Retail Portfolio, you will help oversee day-to-day operations, workforce planning, training, compliance and service delivery across multiple client sites. You will conduct regular site visits, build strong relationships with clients and employees, and help ensure our services consistently meet the highest operational standards.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced security professional ready to take the next step in their operational leadership career. The position involves regular travel between sites and client locations, occasional interstate travel, and operational support where required, including relief officer coverage and event security operations.
