Job summary

Berrima Public School is a small rural NSW school in the Southern Highlands with about 161 students. The Assistant Principal will join a committed staff and executive team and play a pivotal role in shaping the next stage of the school's improvement journey.

Our focus is evidence-informed teaching, inclusive practice and strong student wellbeing, belonging and connection, supported by community partnerships and a school-wide food program.

Qualifications

• Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
• Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead inclusive teaching and learning programs.
• Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
• Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

• Demonstrated excellence in classroom practice, with deep knowledge of evidence-informed and inclusive teaching practices and a proven capacity to improve learning outcomes for all students.
• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong, respectful relationships with students, staff, families and the wider community, underpinned by a clear educational philosophy and a proven capacity to contribute positively to an inclusive school culture.
• Demonstrated capacity to show initiative, take ownership and lead improvement beyond the classroom, with the judgement and organisational skills to manage competing priorities, contribute effectively to an executive team and balance the dual responsibilities of teaching and leadership.
• Demonstrated capacity to build the confidence, capability and leadership of others through effective coaching, mentoring and feedback, including working side-by-side with colleagues and confidently navigating challenging professional conversations.
