Job summary

Southern Cross Catholic College in Townsville, QLD, is seeking an Assistant Principal - Administration (Primary) to shape a vibrant learning community grounded in care, excellence and Catholic values. This full-time, 5-year fixed-term position combines teaching responsibilities with broad administration under the Principal's guidance.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in Catholic education preferred.
• Ability to mentor staff and lead professional learning communities.
• Strong understanding of curriculum design and student wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide general leadership in support of the Principal and lead administration responsibilities.
• Teach responsibilities alongside administrative duties as directed by the Principal.
• Oversee staff formation and student behaviour management as part of the leadership team.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation using data-informed practice to improve teaching, learning and outcomes.
• Demonstrate authentic faith leadership as an active member of the Catholic Eucharistic community and maintain RE teaching accreditation.

Salary Range: $149,764 to $157,120 per annum pending experience + Super

This is a full time, 5 year fixed term position.

The position of Assistant Principal - Administration (Primary) is a significant Senior Leadership position in the schools organisational structure and as such is a member of the school Leadership Team. The Assistant Principal Administration provides general leadership in support of the Principal in the achievement of the acknowledged mission and goals of the school and its community. The Assistant Principal Administration will have teaching responsibilities and will be responsible for general and specific administration duties which may include staff formation and student behaviour management, as per the principal’s guidance.

With proven leadership experience and a deep commitment to Catholic education, you demonstrate the ability to develop and mentor others within a professional learning culture. Drawing on your knowledge of contemporary pedagogy, curriculum design and student wellbeing, you inspire excellence and model inclusive, values-driven leadership. You’ll also lead continuous improvement and innovation, using data-informed practice to strengthen teaching, learning and student outcomes.

You’ll bring authentic faith leadership as an active member of a Catholic Eucharistic community, together with full accreditation to teach Religious Education and registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
