Job summary

Alchemy Recruitment Consulting is partnering with a state government client to recruit an Assistant Materials Officer for East Toowoomba, QLD. The role involves materials classification, compliance testing, and assisting with specialist tests.

It is a 6-month contract with potential extension and an immediate start. The position requires numeracy proficiency, ability to perform manual handling, and comfort with regional travel including stays away from home base.

Qualifications

• Sound numeracy skills and comfort with calculation tools.
• Physically able to perform manual handling and lifting.
• Willingness to travel regionally and be away from home base for periods.

Responsibilities

• Classify materials and perform compliance testing, assist with specialist tests.
• Support sampling, equipment checking, calibration, investigations and instrumentation.
• Perform significant calculations using manual and software tools.
• Work indoors and outdoors, including physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 25kg).
• Occasional travel to remote locations with travel costs covered.
