Job summary

Alchemy Recruitment Consulting is partnering with a state government client to recruit a Trainee Materials Officer based in Warwick, QLD. The role involves performing materials testing, data analysis, and regional site work, with travel and field investigations covered by the company.

The position is a 6-month contract with potential for extension and an immediate start. It requires basic numeracy, a Class C driving licence, and the ability to work outdoors and lift up to 25 kg.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required – training provided.
• Physically able to perform manual handling and lifting.
• Sound numeracy and basic computer skills.
• Comfortable with regional travel and time away from home base.

Responsibilities

• Perform materials testing under supervision – soil, aggregate, concrete, bitumen and asphalt.
• Assist with data analysis, ensuring accuracy and timely turnaround.
• Travel with experienced staff on regional field investigations and site sampling.
• Work both indoor and outdoor, including physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 25kg, shovelling, uneven terrain).
• Occasional isolated locations with limited mobile coverage for up to 5 days – all travel costs covered.
