ALH Hotels in Cairns is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Woree Tavern to lead daily pub operations with warmth and presence. You will oversee bar service, gaming room activity, and Keno/TAB offerings while delivering top-tier guest experiences.

The ideal candidate brings hospitality know-how, supervising experience, and a genuine passion for community pub culture, with current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Manager licences.

Assistant Manager | Woree Tavern

Are you a true hospitality professional who loves authentic pub culture, commands the bar with warmth and presence, and knows how to look after a loyal community of regulars? The Woree Tavern is searching for a hands-on, floor-owning Assistant Manager to join the family and help run one of Cairns’ most iconic local watering holes.

This is a pure, traditional pub operation,there's no bistro or kitchen trade to juggle here. Our entire focus is centered squarely on delivering great bar service, managing an active Keno and TAB offering, and running a top-tier gaming room. With generations of local families calling "The Woree" their home pub, we need a leader who brings genuine heart, sharp operational standards, and a passion for keeping local heritage alive on every single shift.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

• This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licenceas per state requirements
