Job summary

The Royal Hotel Gatton, a flagship ALH Hotels property, is seeking a driven Assistant Manager to lead the floor and multi‑department teams in the Lockyer Valley.

You’ll steer lunch and dinner service, drive guest satisfaction, and be the face of the pub when the boss is away, across the bistro, sports bar, gaming room and hotel rooms. This hands-on role includes lifting tasks and must hold RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence to meet state requirements.

Qualifications

• A current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence in Queensland.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-department venue and manage daily operations.
• Oversee service in the bistro, sports bar, and gaming areas across shifts.
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running safely and with a great vibe.
• Ensure presentation standards and guest experience are consistently high.
• Lead a team of hospitality staff across shifts to deliver warm country hospitality.

The Royal Hotel Gatton is looking for a driven, customer-focused Assistant Manager who loves classic regional pub culture, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and knows how to keep a multi-department venue firing on all cylinders!

"The Royal" is a buzzing local powerhouse. Whether you’re steering a busy lunch or dinner rush in the bistro, orchestrating a high-tempo weekend trade in the sports bar, or managing operations across our gaming floor and hotel rooms, this role demands a leader with sharp operational instincts who loves being right in the heart of the action. We need someone who can maintain gold-standard presentation, build strong relationships with local regulars, and deliver warm, authentic country hospitality on every shift.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements
