Pitcher Partners is seeking an Assistant Manager in the Private Business & Family Advisory team in Australia. You will manage a client portfolio, providing comprehensive accounting and advisory services across taxation, reporting and planning, while coaching junior staff.

As a step-up role, you will lead client relationships, review work, and contribute to bids and growth through external networks. Offices across Australia support flexible arrangements and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified CA or CPA with 4+ years in a professional services role.
• Ability to prepare and review financial statements and tax returns for complex entities.
• Provide tax planning recommendations and identify tax-saving opportunities for clients.
• Strong written and verbal communication to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Xero, Now Infinity, Practice Ignition or Greatsoft.

About the role

As an Assistant Manager in the Private Business & Family Advisory team, you will create value for clients by providing comprehensive advisory services across asset protection, business performance, business reporting, accounting and taxation management, and wealth protection. You will manage your own client portfolio, serving as the primary point of contact and building strong relationships based on trust and reliability.

Alongside your client work, you will oversee workflow among junior team members, review their work and play an active role in their coaching and development. This is a genuine step-up role for an experienced accountant ready to take on more client ownership and people leadership.

Key responsibilities

Managing a portfolio of clients as their primary point of contact, providing tailored accounting and advisory services

Preparation and review of financial statements, activity statements and tax returns for all entity types and individuals

Identifying and managing tax issues such as Division 7A loans, fringe benefits tax, CGT events, SBE and depreciation concessions

Providing tax planning advice and identifying tax-saving opportunities for clients

Undertaking periodic management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and analysing financial data to provide insights to clients and senior management

Coordinating and prioritising workflow among junior team members, ensuring work is allocated efficiently and completed within agreed timelines

Coaching, mentoring and supervising junior staff, including reviewing work, providing timely feedback and supporting technical development

Contributing to bids and proposals and building external networks to support future client pipelines

Staying current with changes in tax legislation, accounting standards and industry best practice

About you

Fully qualified with a CA or CPA accreditation

4+ years' experience in an equivalent professional services role

Ability to prepare and review financial statements and tax returns for multiple and complex entities, including various trusts and corporate entities

Ability to undertake tax planning recommendations for clients

A positive and proactive approach to delivering superior support and commercial advice to clients

Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, Now Infinity, Practice Ignition or Greatsoft

Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Strong numeracy and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and make sense of data

Strong time management skills with the ability to be agile with changing priorities and deadlines

Ability to coach, mentor and lead staff
