Job summary

Mercure Gold Coast is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Financial Controller for a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will supervise the Finance team, support payroll and supplier processing, and help refine financial systems to boost profitability.

You will bring AFC/Senior Accountant experience, leadership ability to develop the team, and strong time management under strict deadlines as part of a vibrant hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as AFC/Senior Accountant
• Ability to train and develop team members
• Ability to time manage large volume workload
• Maintain calm composure under tight deadlines
• High level of interpersonal & communication skills
• Relevant tertiary qualification (desirable)

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced assistant financial controller to join the team on a fixed term 9-month contract. Responsibilities will include:

• Supervising the Finance team in daily operations
• Supporting with Payroll, Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
• Developing and monitoring all financial systems
• Improve systems and processes to enhance department profitability
• Maintaining internal controls, credit limits and compliance
• Preparing accurate and timely monthly accounts
• Assist with completing monthly financial statements
• Providing financial advice and support to management

What you'll bring to the role:

• Previous experience as an AFC/Senior Accountant
• Proven ability to train and develop team members
• Ability to effectively time manage large volume work load
• Able to maintain calm composure while working under tight deadlines
• High level of interpersonal & communication skills
• Relevant tertiary qualification (desirable, however not essential)
