Job summary

Nine's Group Finance team is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to support the financial accounting function across Publishing, Broadcasting and Digital divisions. You will contribute to key reporting, balance sheet processes and drive accounting excellence.

The role collaborates across cross-functional finance teams, helps with month-end, reconciliations, accruals and prepares statements and management reports, with a strong focus on internal controls and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical knowledge).
• Demonstrated experience in an assistant accounting or financial accounting role.
• Exceptional attention to detail with proven accuracy in spotting and resolving discrepancies quickly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build collaborative relationships across teams.
• Strong organisation skills to manage multiple deadlines effectively under pressure.
• A proactive, growth-minded approach with high standards of confidentiality and professional integrity.

Responsibilities

• Review and process general ledger entries in alignment with company policies and compliance standards.
• Assist with accounts payable activities and including invoice coding.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Support month-end closing activities by preparing accruals, prepayments, and accurate journal entries.
• Help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain robust internal controls and contribute to continuous improvement across accounting processes.
