Job summary

Compass is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager to help run daily branch operations and ensure vehicles are delivered and retrieved smoothly for customers. You will support the Branch Manager, manage team issues, and step in as the escalation point when a manager is unavailable.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong customer service, and the ability to plan and adapt to changing priorities across early, day, and late shifts. A current driver’s license is preferred.

We're looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Assistant Branch Manager to help lead the day-to-day operation of one of our busy branches.

Our branches operate 7:00am to 9:00pm, seven days a week, and this full-time position works on a rotating roster, with early, day and late shifts shared fairly across the team, including weekends.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll be supporting customers following a vehicle accident or breakdown, coordinating drivers and vehicle movements, completing rental check-ins, assisting the Branch Manager with daily operations and helping ensure everything runs smoothly throughout your shift.

You'll play an important role within the branch, acting as a senior point of contact for the team and making informed decisions to keep operations running efficiently. Whether you're helping a customer get back on the road, planning tomorrow's bookings or responding to changing priorities throughout the day, you'll be trusted to help keep the operation moving.

What You'll Be Doing

• Ensure the smooth delivery and retrieval of vehicles for customers, aligning with both the Company's and customers' expectations.
• Providing support to the Branch Manager in team management issues.
• Be the escalation point for any day-to-day issues that need addressing urgently in the absence of a manager.

What You'll Bring

• Preferred experience in a similar role or within the automotive industry.
• A full and clean driver's license, a motorbike license is an advantage but not a necessity.
• Physically able to wash and prepare vehicles for delivery
• Exceptional customer service skills with at least one year of experience in a customer service role.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
• Able to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
