Job summary

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or related discipline.
• Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial administration practices.
• Experience supporting the management of a fixed asset register.
• CPA or CA designation or working towards designation.
• Demonstrated understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, policies and practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the management of Hunter Water’s fixed asset registers, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
• Preparation of month-end journals, adjustments, reconciliations and reporting of fixed asset information.
• Support the administrative function of capital projects including the review and processing of opening, closing and amending projects.
• Support the review of capital project work-in-progress and assist with the timely addition of capital assets.
• Ongoing review of all processes and systems identifying improvements and efficiency gains where appropriate.
• Engage with all areas of business to ensure efficient and effective fixed asset management practices at Hunter Water.
• Assist with the preparation of Hunter Water’s internal and external reporting requirements associated with fixed assets.
• Assist with maintaining, reviewing and documenting fixed asset policies, procedures and work instructions.
• Provide support and guidance to stakeholders and finance team members on fixed asset processes, escalating complex matters as required.
