Job summary

MTC FutureReady is seeking an Assistant Accountant for an immediate start on a fixed-term contract ending 30th June 2027. You will support financial and transactional accounting across the group, processing and reconciling banking transactions and assisting with AR/AP functions.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will contribute to data integrity, compliance and continuous improvement while ensuring timely financial reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience, with CPA/CA studies commenced or intended.
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles, GST, FBT, statutory reporting, compliance requirements and transactional finance processes.
• Experience with ERP systems; TechnologyOne is advantageous; intermediate Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete month-end processing and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Own end-to-end Accounts Receivable processes: invoicing, payment receipting, bank reconciliations, debtor management and cashflow processing.
• Ensure invoices are accurately prepared, authorised, coded and entered into systems.
• Reconcile major debtor accounts, follow-up actions and prepare debtor and other financial reports.
• Review and process employee expense claims in line with policies and tax requirements.
• Prepare gross profit and margin reporting; analyse revenue, direct costs, client margins and performance.
• Support continuous improvement of financial systems, processes and policies across finance activities.
