Roc Consulting in Sydney is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its Corporate Finance team. You will support month-end reporting, reconciliations and financial analysis in a structured environment with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager, you will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting functions, assist with BAS/GST, manage manual data processes and contribute to process improvements while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
• CPA/CA studies commenced or intention to commence highly regarded
• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
• Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations and financial analysis
• Good understanding of accounting principles and balance sheet concepts
• Ability to meet tight month-end deadlines and work under pressure
• Comfortable working with manual processes and large data sets
• Strong attention to detail and analytical capability
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Industry experience within transport, logistics, waste management or related sectors will be highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Assist with Fixed Asset Register maintenance and depreciation processing
• Support BAS, GST and PAYG preparation activities
• Investigate account variances and assist in resolving discrepancies
• Assist with external audit and year-end reporting requirements
• Support financial process improvements and reporting enhancements
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial data
• Provide general accounting support to the wider finance team

The Position

Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager, the Assistant Accountant will support the finance team in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, reconciliations and month-end processes.

This position is suited to someone who enjoys working in a structured finance environment, is highly organised and can manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

You will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting functions while supporting the wider finance team across reporting, compliance and process improvement initiatives.
