Job summary

[axr] Recruitment & Search is partnering with a not-for-profit client in Sydney's Lower North Shore to hire an Assistant Accountant on a temp-to-perm basis. The role focuses on detailed work, journals and reconciliations, with study support for CPA/CA tracks.

Hybrid work, base salary A$75,000–A$90,000 plus super, and salary packaging options available. You will join a small, supportive team and may travel to sites as needed while you develop your accounting skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accounting support, accounts receivable or accounts payable role.
• Currently studying, or planning to start, CPA or CA.
• An accounting degree or similar qualification is desirable.
• Experience preparing journals and reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with an ERP system; Epicor is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post day to day journals across receivables and payables, including dishonoured direct debits and bank adjustments.
• Prepare balance sheet and fixed asset reconciliations for review.
• Complete daily and monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations.
• Work with the accounts receivable team on the bad debt provision.
• Support month end close, including journals and variance analysis.
• Assist with audit preparation and keep supporting documentation accurate.
• Visit sites occasionally to work with operational teams.

Job Brief

Our client is looking for an Assistant Accountant who enjoys doing the detailed work themselves: preparing journals and reconciliations directly in the finance system. You'll have the support of an experienced team as you build your accounting skills. The role suits someone studying CPA or CA who has come from AR or AP and is ready to move into accounting.

About Our Client

Our client is a well established not for profit organisation. The finance team is small, social and supportive, with a mix of experience levels and a strong focus on helping people grow. The function is currently bringing transactional work across from another state into Sydney, and this role is part of building that team.

• Happy to travel to sites from time to time; a driver's licence is an advantage
