Job summary

KFC South Pacific is seeking an Assistant Accountant on a 12-month contract to support end-to-end purchase orders, invoicing and month-end activities, while working with Finance and Marketing teams.

This role offers exposure to accounts payable, reconciliations, tax requirements and maintaining audit trails within a large, fast-paced environment.

You will build your accounting experience and contribute to strong financial controls across the business.

Qualifications

• Accounting qualification; CPA studies are advantageous.
• Experience in Accounts Payable, Finance Administration or Assistant Accountant roles in large corporate settings.
• Good understanding of GST and tax invoice requirements; experience with ERP systems.
• Intermediate Excel skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Raise and process purchase orders across business expenditure.
• Review, code and process supplier invoices with correct accounts, cost centres, projects and tax treatments.
• Monitor invoices through to payment; investigate discrepancies and issues on POs.
• Partner with Shared Services, budget owners and suppliers to resolve queries and keep payments moving.
• Support month-end activities including accruals, prepayments, journals and reconciliations.

As our Assistant Accountant on a 12 Month contract, you'll work closely with our Finance and Marketing teams to coordinate the end-to-end purchase order and invoice process, help ensure expenditure is accurately recorded and support month-end activities, reconciliations and reporting.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Raise and maintain purchase orders across business expenditure.
• Review, code and process supplier invoices, ensuring the correct accounts, cost centres, projects and tax treatments are applied.
• Monitor invoices through to payment and investigate discrepancies, unmatched purchase orders and payment issues.
• Partner with our Shared Services team, budget owners and suppliers to resolve queries and keep payments moving.
• Support month-end activities including accruals, prepayments, journals and reconciliations.
• Help ensure expenditure is captured accurately in the correct accounting period.
• Maintain accurate financial records, supporting documentation and audit trails.
• Support ad hoc financial reporting, analysis and audit requests.
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve efficiency and strengthen financial controls.

ABOUT YOU

• Accounting qualification essential, with CPA studies highly regarded.
• Experience in Accounts Payable, Finance Administration or an Assistant Accountant role, ideally within a large corporate environment.
• Good understanding of GST and tax invoice requirements, with experience using ERP financial systems.
• Intermediate Excel skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Organised and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities and resolve invoice and payment issues.
• A collaborative communicator who builds strong relationships across teams.
• A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for simpler and more efficient ways of working.
