Job summary

Murrindindi Shire Council in Alexandra, Victoria is seeking an Asset Protection Officer on a 12-month contract to protect council assets and community safety through inspections of asset protection permits and construction works.

You will inspect road reserves, stormwater permits, respond to public inquiries, document checks, and work with council staff to deliver reliable service. A TAFE certificate or related experience is suitable, and a driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil/general construction within Australia.
• Ability to instruct contractors and supervise works.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and manage multiple inspections.
• Proven problem-solving, analytical and detail-oriented approach.
• Must possess a valid Driver's Licence and willingness to travel to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Inspect asset protection permits including vehicle crossings and road works.
• Perform follow-up inspections to assess construction-related damage.
• Ensure compliance with Legal Point of Discharge permits for stormwater.
• Respond to public requests and provide technical guidance.
• Sign off on small-scale construction inspections.
• Complete inspection checklists and document in the council system.
• Assist with customer service queries and engage with stakeholders.
• Present a positive image of the Council to the community.
