Salter Brothers Hospitality – Pokolbin NSW is seeking Apprentice Chefs to join our culinary teams across Spicers Guesthouse Éremo Restaurant, The Convent, and Circa 1876 in Pokolbin, Hunter Valley. Start or continue your culinary journey with guidance from experienced chefs in renowned venues.

As an Apprentice, you will learn hands-on cooking, follow recipes, maintain a clean kitchen, and contribute to high-quality service across restaurant and events.

Qualifications

• Currently undertaking, or willing to commence, a Commercial Cookery Apprenticeship.
• Passion for food, hospitality, and building a long-term culinary career.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and continually develop your skills and knowledge.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Availability to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Reliable transport to and from the property.

Responsibilities

• Learn and develop practical culinary skills under the guidance of experienced Chefs and kitchen leaders;
• Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes across a variety of dining experiences, including restaurant service, functions, weddings, and special events;
• Follow recipes, kitchen procedures, and presentation standards to consistently deliver high-quality food;
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in line with food safety and hygiene requirements;
• Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team to deliver exceptional guest experiences;
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn and grow within the hospitality industry;
• Contribute to a supportive and professional team culture while building the skills required to become a qualified Chef.
