Job summary

NU Services in Newcastle, NSW is seeking passionate Apprentice Chef & Chefs of all levels to join our expanding hospitality team. Full-time, Part-time and Casual positions are available across our Local Connections Restaurant, Bar on the Hill, and catering operations.

You will prepare and cook high-quality dishes, maintain kitchen cleanliness, assist in menu development, and work closely with staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality and catering industry.
• Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A passion for food and a creative approach to cooking.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with the menu and standards set by the Executive chef.
• Ensure that all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets the required presentation standards.
• Assist in the development of new recipes and menu items, contributing to the overall culinary direction of the establishment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
• Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory management, ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and available.
• Participate in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
