Job summary

BA Road Services Pty Ltd seeks an Asphalt Foreman to lead 8–10 crew members on paving projects, ensuring safe, on-spec execution from start to finish. You will manage resources, monitor mix quality, and liaise with managers and clients to communicate progress.

The role requires a Driver's licence, a Construction Induction Card, and ideally a Certificate 3 in Civil Construction, with a proven team-based track record and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Operate only trained, qualified equipment.

• Adhere to environmental policies and environmental processes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate equipment and manage resources effectively.
• Address unexpected challenges to keep the project on track.
• Liaise between crews, project managers, and clients, relaying updates and changes.
• Provide training and guidance to crew members for efficient task performance.
• Enforce safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and ensure crew adherence to safety guidelines.
• Monitor material usage, equipment operation, and crew hours to control costs and stay within budget.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and incidents for reporting and billing.

Asphalt foremen ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality execution of paving projects, adhering to specifications and standards. You will oversee work crews of 8-10 direct reports, managing all aspects of site operations from preparation through completion.

Key responsibilities

• Overseeing work crews, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project specifications
• Monitoring asphalt mix quality, application techniques, and final surface adherence to specifications
• Coordinating equipment and managing resources effectively
• Addressing unexpected challenges such as equipment breakdowns, material issues, or weather delays to keep the project on track
• Serving as a liaison between crews, project managers, and clients, relaying project updates and changes
• Providing training to crew members, offering guidance, and ensuring efficient task performance
• Enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety meetings, and ensuring crew adherence to safety guidelines
• Monitoring material usage, equipment operation, and crew hours to control costs and stay within budget
• Maintaining accurate records of work completed, materials used, and incidents on the job site, essential for project reporting and billing purposes in a timely manner
• Arrive on site to markup job site prior to crew arrival and conduct thorough prestart/toolbox meetings with crew

• General knowledge of asphalt tasks and how they impact each other
• Only operate plant, equipment and machinery that you are trained, qualified and competent to use
• Work in a safe manner, in accordance with training, Safe Work Method Statements and/or instruction
• Promptly report any unsafe working conditions, faulty equipment, hazards, risks, incidents, injuries, damages and near misses
• Ensure compliance with all environmental policies at all times
• Manage crews to effectively implement good environmental processes at all times
