Job summary

Unity Power Engineers Pty Ltd – Hamilton NSW is seeking an ASP3 Designer to join the electrical engineering team. You will prepare ASP3-compliant designs for new connections, subdivisions, and network upgrades across NSW distribution networks, with site investigations and approvals liaison.

Based in our Newcastle, NSW office, you will work full-time in-office with site visits as needed. The role requires current ASP3 accreditation or progress towards it, and experience with overhead/underground

Qualifications

• ASP3 accreditation required or in progress for NSW electricity distribution networks.
• Experience designing overhead and underground networks for NSW distributors.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards and NSW design manuals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ASP3-compliant drawings for new connections, subdivisions, and network upgrades.

Unity Power Engineers is a specialist Electrical Engineering design and consulting business, delivering high-quality engineering services to the heavy industrial, utilities, mining, commercial, and renewable energy sectors across Australia.

We are seeking a skilled ASP3 Designer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accredited electrical designs for new connections, subdivisions, and network augmentation and upgrade works across the NSW electricity distribution networks.

The Role

Full-time role (40 hours per week)

Primarily office-based, with site attendance required for design investigations.

Based from our Newcastle (Hamilton, NSW) office.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare ASP3-compliant electrical designs for new connections and subdivisions, including:
  
  
  
  • Service and connection design
  
  
  • Cable sizing and routing
  
  
  • Design network augmentation, upgrade, and asset replacement works.
  
  
  
  


• Undertake site investigations to inform design solutions.


• Liaise with NSW network operators to obtain design approvals and clarify technical requirements.

Design Documentation

• Prepare and review ASP3 Design Drawings including; single-line diagrams, cable schedules, pole and pillar layouts, and construction drawings.


• Technical Reports


• Maintain drawing registers and accurate design documentation, including document control.

Project Support

• Coordinate with survey, planning, and construction teams to ensure design accuracy and constructability.


• Support projects from concept through to construction and as-built documentation.


• Review site and survey information to inform design outcomes.

Qualifications

Current ASP3 (Design) accreditation or working towards accreditation, for NSW electricity distribution networks.

Experience

• Experience designing overhead and underground electrical network designs for Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, and/or Essential Energy.


• Experience in subdivision design, new connections, and network augmentation projects.

Key Skills

• Neutron Earthing (Preferred but not Essential)


• AGI32 Lighting Design (Preferred but not Essential)
