Job summary

Vertex Power & Process in NSW is seeking a Senior Level 3 ASP Electrical Designer to lead our ASP design projects. The role suits someone with Level 3 ASP design experience or a strong electrical design background.

You will manage end-to-end design delivery, coordinate with CAD operators and engineers, and ensure compliance with Essential Energy standards while quoting and scoping new projects in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in Level 3 ASP Design or electrical design background.
• Bachelor degree in engineering desirable.
• Registered on the National Engineers Register desirable.
• Experience using AutoCAD desirable.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong computer skills overall.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with clients, council, and authorities; prepare notifications/letters.
• Create drawings using AutoCAD.
• Perform LV drop calculations with LV Drop software.
• Design earthing using Neutron software.
• Overhead profiling using lidar data and Neara.
• Prepare Safety Designer Reports.
• Visit sites to collect data for designs.
• Submit BYDA applications and environmental searches.
• Process Essential Energy forms and submissions.
• Quote and scope projects.

A candidate with experience in Level 3 ASP design or electrical engineering design will be viewed favourably for this role. Remuneration based on qualifications and experience.

Major Functions

The preparation and submission of Level 3 ASP Designs to Essential Energy standards. The role will be completing designs from start to finish. This will include working with other team members including CAD Operators, electrical trades and administrative staff.

Key Duties

• Liaising with all relevant stakeholders including but not limited to clients, supply authority staff, council members, and colleagues. On occasion this will be in the form of formal notifications/ letters.
• Creating Drawings using AutoCAD software
• Completing Low Voltage Calculations using LV Drop software
• Completing Earthing Designs using Neutron; Essential Energy’s Earthing software
• Completing Overhead profiling using Supply Authority lidar, site visit information and Neara software
• Completing Safety Designer Reports
• Conducting Site Visits to collect site data
• Completing Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) applications and Environmental searches/ forms.
• Processing Essential Energy forms and using their portal to apply for and submit applications on the client’s behalf.
• Quoting and scoping projects.

About you

• Experience in Level 3 ASP Design (highly desirable) or an electrical design/ engineering background of a similar nature.
• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent (highly desirable)
• Registered or able to register on the National Engineers Register in the electrical area of practice (highly desirable)
• Experience using AutoCAD (highly desirable)
• Have a high attention to detail
• Strong computer skills generally
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational, planning, communication and time management skills.
• A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to deal with competing priorities with minimum supervision.
