Job summary

City Of Wagga Wagga is seeking a motivated gallery trainee to join our regional arts venue. You will welcome visitors, support front of house, assist exhibitions and programs, and help with events and venue hire.

No prior gallery experience is required; your attitude, curiosity and reliability matter. The role offers a 38-hour week, study time, and a path to a national arts qualification within a creative team.

• Above award rates! Commencing salary of $1,721.00 gross per fortnight plus superannuation (at 18 years of age or older), varying rates subject to age and experience as per award provisions.

No two days at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery are exactly the same.

Skills

Working Tuesday to Saturday alongside the Gallery team, you'll develop practical skills and experience across a variety of activities, including:

• Welcoming visitors and providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service.
• Supporting front of house operations, retail sales, stock management and reconciliation.
• Assisting with exhibitions, artist programs, residencies and creative learning activities.
• Supporting Gallery events, functions and venue hire.
• Assisting with school, community and engagement programs.
• Learning about artwork handling, collection care, condition reporting and collection data.
• Assisting with Gallery communications, digital content and program information.
• Providing administration and project support across Gallery programs and activities.
• Participating in team and program planning and learning how a professional regional gallery operates.

You don't need previous experience working in an art gallery. What matters most is your attitude, curiosity, reliability and genuine interest in arts, culture and people.
