Job summary

Department of Education Victoria is seeking an Area Manager for the South-East (Dandenong HS, Berwick SC, Hampton Park SC) to lead language education delivery across multiple centres and to drive whole-school improvement in partnership with schools and the Victorian School of Languages.

The role requires strong classroom leadership, strategic planning, and ability to coordinate staff, centres and language programs.

• SC2: Demonstrated ability to plan and implement high impact teaching strategies.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing whole-school improvement initiatives aligned with the school strategic plan.
• Leading curriculum planning and delivery.
• Overseeing professional development and staff development plans.
• Managing staff performance and development reviews.
• Delivering demonstration lessons and modelling best practice.
• Developing and managing assessment and reporting policies and practices.
• Overseeing student welfare and discipline policies.
• Developing the school curriculum across major learning areas.
• Handling general discipline matters beyond classroom teachers.
• Contributing to overall school leadership and management.
• Contributing to proposals for School Council consideration.
• Developing and managing the school code of conduct.
• Manage VSL designated centres, classes and languages programs.
• Collaborate with home schools to support language study.
• Manage sessional and casual staff payroll and ensure VIT/WWCC compliance.
• Support curriculum and professional development initiatives and provide strategic advice on languages policy.
• Oversee compliance with Child Safety Standards in all centres.
• Liaise with host schools and local communities regarding language provision.
