Job summary

Compas is seeking an APS6 Senior Compliance & Investigations Officer to lead risk-based investigations and complex compliance reviews within a major Australian Government regulatory environment. You will analyse financial data and intelligence sources to identify risks and non-compliance, and prepare briefs and advice for decision-makers.

You will also provide guidance to junior staff and contribute to policy and process improvement while working under Baseline clearance requirements in Canberra

Qualifications

• Experience leading financial audits, assurance activities, or equivalent.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret complex information and identify risks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Lead complex compliance reviews and investigations within a major Australian Government regulatory environment, applying risk-based analysis to financial information, identifying non-compliance and supporting high-quality regulatory outcomes.

Location: Canberra, ACT or Melbourne, VIC

Work Arrangement: Flexible working arrangements available

Security Clearance Requirement: Baseline

Due to the nature of this environment, candidates must hold a current Baseline clearance.

Essential Tasks:

• Conduct risk-based investigations and complex compliance reviews.
• Analyse financial, data and intelligence sources to identify risks and non-compliance.
• Prepare high-quality briefs, reports, correspondence and advice for decision-makers.
• Provide guidance and support to junior staff while contributing to policy and process improvement.

Key Criteria:

• Experience supporting or leading financial audits, assurance or comparable compliance activities.
• Strong analytical capability to interpret complex information and identify issues or risks.
• Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and deliver quality outcomes under pressure.
